Bugs for your fish?

Postby Forevermango » Sat Dec 08, 2012 8:35 pm

Has anyone feed live bugs to their Cichlids before?

I found out my flowerhorn loves to eat Xmas beetles!

One fell into my tank and my FH went nuts. So I went outside to get a couple more, he got excited :D

I also tried a small praying mantis too :D

Yeah if you have big no jumpie fish leave the lids off if you've got annoying bugs in the room. Turn off all other lights but the aquarium one and watch the fun and free dinner for your fish.

Does mosquito larvae count as a bug? My guppies and endlers go nuts for them

Mosquito larvae are loved by all fish :) When I condition my fish for breeding, I put dozens of buckets for the mosquitoes to lay their eggs.

LOL at neo's comment. I used to feed my pink and red tail giant gouramis cockroaches... probably should not have done that with all the pesticides around the house haha. They demolished the roaches regardless with such power!

Here's my bug-eating champ list.
Goldfish
Tetras
Guppies
Danios
Minnows

If you have these and a bug problem, get them, but remember, this is just personal experience.
My favorite activity is watching my fish tank sitting with a big block of marvelous creation chocolate and a medium bottle of creaming soda.
