Mischlings Worth It?

Postby rennieso » Sun Jul 27, 2014 3:16 am

Been seeing lots of people selling mischlings on forums lately...
are they worth investing?
according to my knowledge, if I buy a bunch of misch, and leave them alone without putting in true TB, it'll probably eventually become only CRS/CBS or just misch, and almost close to no TB at all
Also, there is a risk as to how the seller define/bred their F# generations....

so...worth getting them?

do u actually try and selectively breed them? I only have one tank, n its 40L, so it'll be hard to keep TB right?

do u find that there are more CRS/CBS as time pass by?

You will mostly get mischling babies or ordinary crs/cbs and probably a very slim chance of getting any TBs out of the offspring. You will need to add some TBs to increase your chances to producing any TBs. But yeah a 40L tank is going to be very challenging.

ive breed mischling x mischling and had a high rate of TB juvies
it all depends on what F generation they are
the mischlings i breed were F8 and from a respected breeder so i knew i was getting stock that was the generation it was advertised as
if you want to breed TB to mischlings you want to put a male TB over the female mischling to increase the number of TB
but as said previously theyre good fun to have in a tank cause you never know when a king kong might appear

That's right. But you will only truly know the F number if you do it yourself because a lot of people I'm sure just guess.
It take quite a lot of tanks or a ruthless and consistent culling program to get high F numbers.

If you love your shrimp it is definitely worth it....

And if you have the patience and the ruthlessness to cull any "sub-standard" ones.
