Raising GH and KH

Postby shrimpscape9984 » Thu Feb 26, 2015 9:10 am

Currently using Salty Shrimp + to raise GH and Baking Soda KH to raise KH.

In my test, I found that...
Baking Soda raised PH.
Salty Shrimp raised PH.

Here's how I conducted the test.
1. Used RO water with PH 6.
2. Dropped a pinch of baking soda into the test tube, tested for PH. Skyrocketed to PH7+

The result was the same for salty shrimp.

What is the alternative to raising GH and KH without affecting PH?

Baking soda will DEFINITELY raise Ph.

Another incorrect piece of advice from 2OFUS...

"You're an idiot" Lol..

Baking soda will effect ph even is small doses. Depending on how much acidity buffering capacity there is in your tank, even a half teaspoon could raise a 100L tank by several points, which is quite significant..

The chemical formula for how sodium bicarbonate raises ph is:

HCO3- + H2O → H2CO3 + OH−

You clearly don't understand even basic water chemistry 2OFUS, nor can you identify a WR Taiwan Bee compared to a CRS. Your attitude leaves a lot to be desired also..

Btw, those threatening messages you sent me were a good laugh, and I'll be reporting them to the moderators..
